Research
My research interests lie in the broad areas of wireless networks, including cognitive radio networks and dynamic spectrum management, cooperative communication and networking, sensor networking, industrial wireless systems, and smart wireless systems. I joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Jan. 2009, before that I had worked in University of Alberta and Hongkong University of Science and Technology. During the past 5 years, I had the opportunity to collaborate with many brilliant under/postgraduate students and excellent researchers, which is definitely the most valuable experience for me.
In particular, my recent and current research efforts focus on three fronts of research topics. First, I am interested in open problems in cognitive radio networks, including collaborative spectrum sensing and resource allocation based on game theory and optimization theory. Particularly, I am interested in the testbed design for multi-hop cognitive radio networks using whitespace frequency bands. Second, I am interested in open problems in smart camera networks, including smart pattern recognition, collaborative communications and controls for PTZ camera networks, particularly application-layer solutions for industrial surveillance systems. Third, I am interested in open problems in smart grid, including communication standard technology, distributed energy management and control systems. A long-term view is to develop basic theory and application prototype system for underpinning a sustainable energy cyber-physical system (E-CPS).
